“When kids are encouraged to express themselves and take risks in creating art, they develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.” – Grace Hwang Lynch
In addition to a wide range of music, theater, and acting lessons, MusicAlley also offers Art Classes. Many of our students enjoy learning to draw and paint along with their other classes. Learning the visual arts rounds out a student’s education. Of course, if they just want to take art, that’s fine too.
The visual arts provide a completely different kind of experience and benefit than the performing arts. Students of all ages find art class to be very relaxing while continuing to build concentration. Young students further benefit by building fine motor control. Other benefits include a better understanding of forms, shapes, colors, and textures, and how they can be creatively combined. Perhaps more surprisingly, art can help especially young children develop language skills by talking about their work and what they are learning. One of the things kids really enjoy doing is coming up with little stories to go along with their work. The benefits can go even further, including improving academic performance.
Like all of MusicAlley’s classes, art is not just for kids! Some parents enjoy learning to draw and paint with their children. It’s a nice way to spend time together. It is also a great way to relax and get away from the stresses of everyday life.
Group Lessons are offered for 4 years and up. They are an affordable way to enjoy and learn.
Private lessons are available for those who want to focus more intensely or just prefer private instruction.
Adults can take Art Lessons too!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso
